Care and support for people with epilepsy

Reducing Seizure Frequency

Almost all of our service users have had to endure seizures for a long time. One of our key aims is to do all that we can to try and reduce or even eliminate seizures through helping our service users to access the best possible care.

We’ve taken a detailed look at the seizure patterns of 24 of our service users, all of whom have received our service for 18 months or more.

 The results

Total number of people analysed 24
Number that had a reduction in frequency of seizures 18
Number that had a reduction of more than 50% 10
Number becoming seizure free for more than six months 4
Number that have had no change in frequency of seizures 1
Number that have had no seizures since receiving care from us 5
Number that had an increase in the frequency of their seizures 4

  Conclusion

We can never guarantee that a service user’s epilepsy will improve. However we can ensure that each and every Independence Homes service user gains access to the best possible care, and that every effort is made to reduce or eliminate seizures where possible.
