Fun at the Summertime Ball 2012 July 2012

Summertime Ball 2012

Two service users from Hall Road travelled to Wembley Stadium to watch the Capital FM Summertime Ball 2012. The star-studded bill included Usher, Cheryl Cole, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Example, Katy Perry, Dizzie Rascal, The Wanted, Jessie J and Justin Bieber.

Support workers noticed that service users responded whenever they heard one of the featured artists. They showed their appreciation by screaming, clapping, jumping up and down in their chairs and laughing. When their key workers heard about the Summertime Ball they thought it would be a great opportunity to get closer to their favourite artists.

Travel planning was important as both individuals use wheelchairs occasionally. After an early start they arrived at the stadium and found their seats. They joined in with the thousands of fans screaming as the acts appeared on stage. One of the service users was assisted by his support workers to stand up and dance for part of the day!

The concert was truly fantastic, by the end both service users needed time to relax and reflect on the amazing day. They arrived back home just after midnight, a long but thoroughly enjoyable day. The service users at Hall Road definitely know how to party! It was great for them to hear the live tracks played on the radio the next week as the memories came flooding back to them all.

Everyone really enjoyed their day and is already planning their next trip!
