- Transition Day at Treloars College
Transition Day at Treloars College 19 February 2013
We recently attended the 'Student Transition' day at Treloars College in Hampshire. A number of service users had been students at the college before they moved to Independence Homes. It is always enjoyable when we can meet students and teachers face to face and hear about them achieving incredible things together. There were many students and parents looking around and asking us questions about our services, we hope that more students from Treloars will be visiting us in the near future.
We were very lucky to have a service user ambassador with us for the day. We didn't realise what a celebrity he was at Treloars with all his teachers and fellow students coming over to say hello. They were all very impressed with what he is doing now in terms of his new job in a 'Drop In' Centre in Epsom and his college activities. They all said how fantastic he looked and they were glad he hadn’t lost his amazing sense of humour.
The person in question attended Treloars College 2 years ago and had great memories of his time there, he found it quite emotional at times when reminiscing with his teachers. He worked very hard and made sure everyone had an Independence Homes bag, brochure and pen before they left our stand, not to mention a glowing report of life in at Independence Homes. (We should have included his autograph too due to his celebrity status at Treloars, we may have to get him to sign our brochures next time!)
