New Age Kurling becomes a favourite! 15 February 2013
Redhill YMCA visited HiFive, our weekly activity programme, last year and brought with them Boccia and New Age Kurling for all to try. The session was such a success that service users from one of our services now travel to Redhill to play New Age Kurling weekly.
One service user has unearthed a hidden talent for New Age Kurling and wants to represent Redhill YMCA in competitions. He is also harvesting dreams to scale the heights to become an Olympian. Last week he not only gained his participation award in New Age Kurling but was offered the opportunity to become a volunteer; assisting those not as proficient in the sport.
The other service users will be getting their awards in the next few weeks.
‘New Age Kurling can be played by able-bodied and disabled people of all ages alike.
New Age Kurling is a form of the original curling game, but adapted so that it can be played indoors on any smooth, flat surface, such as a sports hall, rather than on ice.’
