Independence Homes is a specialist provider of care and support for adults with epilepsy. Demand for our services has grown consistently in recent times, meaning we only have a small number of vacancies in our care homes and supported living units for people with severe epilepsy and learning disabilities. All of our units are community based, with a genuine emphasis on integration.
Our approach is to support individuals to achieve all that they can from their lives, but with an appropriate emphasis on safety. We’re currently working with a number of service users with very complex needs, as well as providing a different kind of support to individuals whose epilepsy, whilst still being a significant factor, shouldn’t prevent them from living a full and active life.
If you have a client who you feel we might be able to support, please call Jacqui on 020 8781 6960 or send an email to jacqui@independencehomes.co.uk.
Independence Homes has also recruited a new epilepsy nurse specialist to work full time with staff and service users at Independence Homes. Lisa O’Brien, who trained at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, joins us from the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy, where she was the sister in charge of the medical centre.
Lisa is already helping to improve the service we provide by co-ordinating the work of the many health, care and therapeutic professionals who work with our service users. She’s also developing even closer links with their families, too.
Lisa’s philosophy matches that of all of us at Independence Homes – she’s determined to help all of our service users to achieve as much independence as possible in a safe and supportive environment.
